Kurt Zouma completes move from Saint Etienne to Chelsea for £12.5 million

Chelsea have secured the signature of St.Etienne defender Kurt Zouma for £12.5 million on a five and a half year deal.

The highly rated French centre-back was one of Jose Mourinho’s prime targets for the January transfer window and after a price war with St.Etienne over the player, Chelsea have finally completed the transfer for £12.5 million.

The Frenchman will, however, go back to St.Etienne on loan for the rest of the season.

The 19-year old had already made 12 appearances for the French club this season and was under contract till June 2017. However, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho had been keeping an eye out for the youngster ever since his return to London.

The 6ft 2in Zouma is a French Under-21 international who has made 53 appearances for St.Etienne since joining them in 2011. The centre-back also has 4 goals for the club during the period.
