England and Tottenham defender Kyle Walker has urged his teammates to put Friday’s wrongdoings right on Tuesday evening as they welcome their old foes Germany to Wembley.
Chile beat England on Friday evening 2-0, with two goals from Alexis Sanchez, and with Germany approaching, Walker is keen to put things right.
“The mood is always great, we have some fantastic characters as well as players in the team, so it’s always going to be buzzing,” he said.
“The defeat was a little bit of a downer, but luckily we’ve got tomorrow to put things right and hopefully we do.”
Walker was a doubt for the match but all players in Roy Hodgson’s squad took part in training. Daniel Sturridge withdrew from the session early, making many wonder whether he would be fit to lead England’s front line.
Hodgson confirmed that the Liverpool forward is fine, though, and will play.
Competition for places is fierce in the England squad as Walker’s main rival for the right-back position, Glen Johnson, played against Chile.
He told FATV: “It makes you want to play better. It can be a little bit of pressure but you have to believe in yourself and go out and do the things you know you are good at and work on the things that need improving.
“It’s been a dream of mine ever since I starting playing. To represent your country is obviously the first thing, but going to a World Cup will topple everything I’ve done. Hopefully I’m there on the plane in the summer and I get chosen.”
