#5 Valencia are sinking and sinking fast

Ayestaran has a lot of problems

It was just in 2003/04 season when Valencia were crowned La Liga champions. The future looked bright and promising and Valencia looked extremely capable of challenging Barcelona and Real Madrid for many years to come. Fast forward 12 years and things cannot be further from the truth.

Valencia kicked off their campaign against Las Palmas and were expected to start with a victory. However, their shambolic performance led to a 4-2 defeat and Ayestaran, the Valencia manager definitely has a lot of problems on his hand.

Added to the fact that Valencia have a lot of Financial Fair Play problems and they might be forced to sell two of their best players – Shkodran Mustafi and Paco Alcacer. Valencia will find it tough to qualify for Europe this season.

Here are all results from La Liga Matchday 1:

Malaga 1-1 Osasuna

Deportivo 2-1 Eibar

Barcelona 6-2 Real Betis

Granada 1-1 Villarreal

Sevilla 6-4 Espanyol

Sporting 2-1 Athletic Bilbao

Real Sociedad 0-3 Real Madrid

Atletico Madrid 1-1 Alaves

Celta Vigo 0-1 Leganes

Valencia 2-4 Las Palmas
