The Spaniard has been one of the Liga’s most consistent performers over the years, and he showed that yesterday by making 5 smart saves against the rampaging Real onslaught, mostly in the second half.
Most notably, he saved good shots taken by Benzema and Morata in either half. The save he made off Morata was a shot taken from just outside the 6-yard box, to which he reacted smartly and made a reflex save to claw the ball away from goal.
He showed assuredness and experience through the duration of the game, keeping a cool head and directing Villarreal’s defence.
