Jesus Navas was quite possibly the best player in the match yesterday. The 33 year old Spanish veteran gave the Atletico left-back a hard time and penetrated into their box repeatedly. He played as the right wing-back in the second half as Sevilla adopted a 3-5-2 formation and also fell back frequently to defend.

Navas played for Manchester City from 2013 to 2017 and has also been a member of the World Cup winning Spanish side. However, he is on the wrong side of 30 now and lost some of his speed and guile as a result. Still, he can take heart from his performance yesterday, which showed that he still remains one of the world’s best in his position.
This was Navas’ 623rd club match overall, and he has also scored 45 goals in his club career. It remains a pity that he could not add to that tally yesterday, but he came quite close to providing an assist on quite a few occasions.
