Real Madrid
Update on Bale's future
Following Cristiano Ronaldo's untimely departure, Real Madrid are all set to turn to Gareth Bale to be their marquee player going forward. Bale was initially unhappy with the playing time he was receiving at the club and indicated that in no uncertain terms. However, according to reports in Marca, he has received assurances that he will indeed be their man main in the following seasons and play a major role in the club.
Harry Kane deal off
In other news, Real Madrid are unlikely to pursue Tottenham striker Harry Kane, after being put off by his unrealistically high price tag. Former Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov too has warned Kane against moving to Madrid, imploring him to stay at Spurs and fight for silverware. “He’ll stay and fight for silverware for now, but further in the future, I cannot be sure.”
Keylor Navas new contract
Madrid are also preparing to offer Keylor Navas a new two-year contract, despite closing in on the signing of Chelsea keeper Thibaut Courtois. Julen Lopetegui, who is a big fan of the Costa Rican and tried to sign him multiple times during his time at Porto, believes Navas has the qualities to remain successful at the club and might even be the No. 1 choice ahead of Courtois.
