#3 Varane's defensive errors cost Madrid the game

Varane will wish never to be in this condition ever again

The defensive partnership of Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane is not working well this season. Varane is more of a loose defender who tends to make big mistakes from time to time. It was no different in the game against Levante.

Varane was the main reason why the Madrid-based club conceded two early goals in the opening 15 minutes of the game.

The neat pass of Postiga which led to the first goal would have been avoided quite easily. Jose Luis Morales did a good job of beating Varane from behind and was left to scored the goal with the simple finish.

Varane was caught near the Madrid box after the ball hit his hand. In the first instance, it looked as if it was a free kick near the box but the VAR abandoned it and decided to give a penalty. Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois guessed the direction correctly but the ball was out of his reach.

Varane needs to improve his defending if Madrid wants to achieve something this season.
