The 26-year-old arrived at Atletico Madrid from Benfica in 2014, and has since gone on to cement his reputation as one of the best goalkeepers in the world, performing solidly as the last line of what is a notoriously stubborn Atleti defense, with his greatest moment coming in the 2015/2016 season when he conceded just 18 goals from 38 league matches to equal the 22-year-old LaLiga record for fewest goals conceded in a season.
The coming campaign would however present the biggest challenge of Oblak’s Atleti career yet, as the overhauling of the squad means that majority of his defensive wall has been disbanded, with Diego Godin, Filipe Luiz and Juanfran all having left the club.
