Frank Lampard hasn’t featured much during this year’s pre-season games and that looks set to continue, for now.
Jose Mourinho has confirmed that Lampard is still recovering from an injury which saw him miss the last game against the Indonesia All-Stars. Here is what he has said on ChelseaFC.com:
“Frank is recovering but of course we don’t want to take risks. Hopefully he plays this week, I won’t say the second match but maybe the third or fourth.”
With four games in the next 10 days, there is still plenty of time left for Lampard to get some more minutes on the pitch before the new season starts.
Lets take a look at the other players who missed the Indonesia All-Stars game which took place last Thursday. Kevin de Bruyne is now fine after the injury scare in Kuala Lumpur and may feature tomorrow.
Andre Schurrle won’t be featuring tomorrow as he continues his time on the sidelines. He is suffering from an illness rather than an injury and should be back in training by tomorrow.
It is a shame he is missing another pre-season game as we haven’t seen much of our first summer signing this season. He is yet to impress the fans and therefore, it is another setback for him in his aim to get on the team sheet for the first game of the season.
