When people from the outside in look at Chelsea and their continued treatment of managers, there is a common consensus of opinion – dressing room rule!
We have read numerous reports in the written press of Chelsea’s big names forcing managers out of the club and all this was started when Luis Felipe Scolari was sacked as manager.
He “claimed” at the time that the likes of Didier Drogba, John Terry and Michael Ballack had all spoken with Roman Abramovich after a rumoured training ground bust up between Drogba and Scolari, and the decision was taken to sack him.
This was all denied by everyone at the club but the same reports crop up every single time a manager had been sacked here to this point. If anything, Rafa Benitez is the first manager to be leaving the club with no reports of a fall out with any player – just the supporters.
Frank Lampard has been quick to point out that any reports of dressing room rule is complete rubbish and has said:
“There’s a lot of nonsense spoken about that. I’ve never heard of any players here being able to ask our owner to sack a manager or even discuss anything to do with the structure of the club.
If you wanted to take that chance you would probably get sacked yourself. Players don’t do that.
Some clubs haven’t got a lot of leaders who stand up when the going gets tough and say, ‘Hang on, we need to turn this around’.
We have a strong dressing room like that but not in any negative way. And one thing that has helped us remain successful over such a long period is a strong core, strong spine. I mean that in terms of players — their ability, personalities and the leaders. You need people like that in the dressing room. But the idea of the dressing room being too strong…certainly not.”
I, personally, have never believed all this rubbish about dressing room rule ever since it was started. It’s been a story that has run it’s course with the press. I have mentioned it in a previous post today but they do like to batter Chelsea with whatever they can throw at us because we are not the stereotypical football club that everyone believes we should be.
You cannot argue with our record and with the decisions that Roman Abramovich has made at this football club. We may not agree with them at times, but he ALWAYS takes these decisions for the good of Chelsea.
I just hope that with the return of Mourinho, everyone pulls together in the same direction throughout the club and we finally have the stability everyone wants to see here. Then, these ridiculous reports of player unrest and dressing room rule can finally be put to bed.
Carefree & KTBFFH!
