The race for promotion in Group C2 of the UEFA Nations League goes down to the wire as Latvia and Armenia square off at the Skonto Stadium on Sunday. Both sides are currently level on points at the bottom of the table but could finish in second place with all three points this weekend.
Latvia’s dreams of securing a top-two finish in Group C4 suffered a huge blow on Thursday when they fell to a 1-0 away defeat against North Macedonia.
Since beating the Faroe Islands 1-0 at home on September 10, Paolo Nicolato’s men have lost two of their subsequent three games, with a 1-1 draw against the Faroe Islands in October’s reverse fixture sandwiched between the two losses.
This drop-off in form has been due to their lack of sting at the attacking end of the pitch, where they have netted just one goal in their last three games while conceding five.
Like the hosts, Armenia failed to find their feet on Thursday when they suffered a 1-0 defeat at home against Faroe Islands at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium.
Suren Chakhalyan’s side have now gone four straight matches without a win, losing three and claiming one draw since kicking off the Nations League campaign with a 4-1 home victory over Latvia on September 7.
With four points from their five games, Armenia are currently rooted to the bottom of the Group C4 standings, level on points with Latvia and two points off second-placed Faroe Islands.

Latvia vs Armenia Prediction
The stakes are high for Latvia and Armenia, who will both be looking to surge into the promotion playoff spot and avoid finishing in the relegation playoff. While we expect both sides to take a cautious approach to the game, we expect Armenia to come out on top at the Skonto Stadium this weekend.
Prediction: Latvia 0-1 Armenia
