Leeds take on Oxford in the Championship on Saturday.

Leeds United take on Oxford United in the 22nd round of games in the EFL Championship on Saturday. The two sides are perched in opposite halves of the points table.

Daniel Farke's Leeds are coming off a 1-1 draw at Preston North End in their previous outing. Brad Pott's 23rd-minute striker seemed set to have given Preston all three points before Jack Whatmough's own goal in the third minute of stoppage time ensured a share of the spoils.

Following the stalemate, the Whites are second in the standings, with 42 points from 21 games, winning 12, snapping a two-game winning run.

Meanwhile, Oxford are fresh off a 3-1 home loss to Sheffield Wednesday last weekend. Greg Leigh's 17th-minute opener for the U's was cancelled out by Josh Windass before Jamal Lowe and Djeidi Gassama compounded the hosts' misery.

The loss sees Oxford just a point above the relegation zone, in 20th, with 18 points from 20 games, winning four, which has seen manager Des Buckingham face the sack.

On that note, here's a look at the head-to-head stats and key numbers, match prediction, and betting tips for the Leeds-Oxford Championship clash at Elland Road.

  • Oxford have won only once in their last five meetings with Leeds across competitions, losing thrice.
  • Leeds have won their last eight home games - all in the Championship.
  • Oxford are winless on the road across competitions this season, losing eight of 10 games, including the last four.
  • Form guide (last five games across competitions, most recent result first): Leeds: D-W-W-L-W; Oxford: L-L-D-L-L

Leeds United vs Oxford United prediction

The two sides have had markedly different campaigns. While Leeds are flying high - occupying one of the two automatic promotion places - Oxford are in free fall after a bright start to their first Championship campaign in more than two decades.

Leeds hold a slender head-to-head advantage ahead of their first meeting with the U's in 12 years. However, Farke's side are the more in-form side heading into the contest, especially at home, while Oxford remain winless on the road.

Hence, in their first clash in the second division since March 1990 - which Leeds won 4-2 - we expect the Whites to run out comfortable winners.

Prediction: Leeds United 2-0 Oxford United
