Manchester City Player Ratings
Zack Steffen - 8/10
Steffen was forced into action a couple of times in the opening stanza and did well to safeguard the net. His best piece of action was obviously keeping out Vardy's effort just before half-time.
Joao Cancelo - 6.5/10
He too endured a difficult first-half, struggling to contain Harvey Barnes and looking well off the pace. But the Portuguese gained his ground after the break and created a few decent chances too.
Ruben Dias - 7.5/10
Among the few shining lights for Manchester City on the day, Dias was composed in possession and completed 93% of his passes. He dominated aerial duels, completed four clearances and blocked three shots.
Nathan Ake - 5/10
Ake was having a good evening before everything started to unravel. He was beaten by Vardy towards the end of the first-half and then brought down Iheanacho inside the area to concede the penalty which eventually settled the contest.
Benjamin Mendy - 7.5/10
A very good performance from the Frenchman, who defended with all his might, kept Edozie in check on the flanks and even had the time to drive forward and lay a few good crosses.
Ilkay Gundogan - 7/10
He got Manchester City's only shot on target in the first-half with a good free-kick and created one good chance for Edozie which the youngster wasted, before skying a chance of his own after the break.
Fernandinho - 7/10
Manchester City's captain was strong on the ball and read the game brilliantly. The only downside though was that he lost possession a total of 16 times. Also lucky not to have gotten sent off despite pelting the choicest of insults at the referee.
Cole Palmer - 6/10
The 19-year-old youngster worked hard off the ball but struggled to create anything of note on it.
Riyad Mahrez - 7/10
The former Leicester City man was active against his old club, proving to be a real menace down the right flank. He missed a one-on-one chance in the first-half but was otherwise good.
Ferran Torres - 5/10
Starting through the center as Manchester City's main striker, Torres struggled to get involved in the match and didn't make a single attempt at goal, let alone find the back of the net.
Samuel Edozie - 7/10
The youngster exuded confidence and was electric on the left wing. He did well off the ball but couldn't get past Pereira, and was eventually subbed off for Jack Grealish.
Substitutes
Rodri - 6.5/10
The Spaniard came on for Gundogan after the hour mark and played well.
Jack Grealish - 6/10
The big man made his Manchester City debut and looked dangerous going forward, but couldn't bury the only chance he received. His link-up with Silva was promising.
Ben Knight - 6/10
Manchester City's youngster came on for the ineffective Torres and barely made a difference himself.
Bernardo Silva - 7/10
Manchester City's attacking shape improved only after Silva came on as the Portuguese star made a huge positive impact.
