Leicester City square off against QPR in the FA Cup

Leicester City will host Queens Park Rangers (QPR) at King Power Stadium in the FA Cup third round on Saturday. Leicester were eliminated from the quarterfinals last season while the visitors could not make it past the third round.

The Foxes have endured a poor run of form and are winless in their last six games in all competitions. They suffered their fifth consecutive loss last week, falling to a 2-1 away loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League. Stephy Mavididi had equalized in the 63rd minute but Leon Bailey scored the match-winner for Villa 13 minutes later.

QPR are unbeaten in their last three games, recording two wins on the trot. After a 3-1 home win over Watford on New Year's Day, they registered a 2-1 home triumph over Luton Town in the EFL Championship. They will now play their first away game of the year and will look to continue their current momentum.

Leicester City vs QPR Head-to-Head and Key Numbers

  • The two teams have crossed paths 61 times in all competitions. They have contested these meetings closely with the Rangers leading 27-24 in wins and 10 games ending in draws.
  • They last met in the EFL Championship 2023-24 season with both teams recording a 2-1 away win.
  • They have met twice in the FA Cup and both teams have one win apiece, including a 5-2 win for the visitors in 1987.
  • Leicester City have won just one of their last six home games. They have conceded at least two goals in five games during that period.
  • QPR have lost just one of their last 11 games, with that loss coming against Swansea in December.
  • The last four meetings between the two teams have produced over 2.5 goals, with both teams recording two wins.

Leicester City vs QPR Prediction

The Foxes have been in poor touch, winning just one of their last 13 games while suffering nine defeats. They have conceded at least two goals in 12 of their last 14 games and will look to improve upon that record. Interestingly, they have won five of their last six home games in the FA Cup while keeping three clean sheets.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will likely be without the services of five players for his side's first home game of the year. Ricardo Pereira and Abdul Fatawu are long-term absentees while Wilfred Ndidi and Mads Hermansen are also not available here. Jannik Vestergaard picked up a knock against Villa and is a doubt while Kasey McAteer might start from the bench.

The Hoops, meanwhile, have enjoyed a good run of form and have lost just one of their last 11 games. While they have a 100% record in 2025, both wins have been registered at home. They have just one win in their last 10 away games, failing to score in six.

Zan Celar, Karamoko Dembele, and Steve Cook are confirmed absentees for Martí Cifuentes. Loanee Ronnie Edwards started from the bench against Luton Town earlier this week and is in line for a full debut.

Both teams have a lengthy absentee list which might impact their performance here. Nonetheless, considering the contrast in their forms, the visitors are expected to eke out a narrow win.

Prediction: Leicester City 1-2 QPR
