Polish international Robert Lewandowski is all set to be officially confirmed as a Bayern Munich player on January 2, as the transfer window re-opens.
The Borussia Dortmund striker, who is in the last year of his contract with The Black and Yellows, was denied his wish by his club, to complete a move to the Bavarian club ahead of the start of 2013/14 German Bundesliga season. However, the 25-year-old made his intentions clear that he will see out his contract and sign for the Reds whenever he is eligible to do so.
Although, Lewandowski could only join The Reds after the end of the ongoing Bundesliga season, he can be officially announced as a Bayern Munich player in three months time from now. Eurosport quotes a source saying: “(The transfer) is already known, but officially you’ll learn this until January 2, or 5 months and 28 days before the expiry of the contract with Borussia Dortmund.”
By blocking the transfer against the player’s wish earlier this year, Borussia Dortmund had pinned their hopes on Lewandowski changing his heart to stay with them. But it looks like their attempts have gone in vain and are set to lose out on another of their star player to their rivals, having let go of Mario Gotze previously.
