Afghanistan national team and Mumbai FC captain Zohib Islam Amiri has signed-up with India’s leading football agency, Libero Sports who will now exclusively manage all of Amiri’s worldwide club contracts and commercial rights.
Amiri’s performances over the last two years for club and country have been remarkable, making him one of the best central defenders in South Asia. Amiri recently captained Afghanistan to their first-ever SAFF Championship 2013 triumph, where he played a pivotal role in the final defeating India 2-0.
Amiri was also voted as the FPAI Fans’ Player of the Year for 2012/13 in India in May 2013.
Amiri will be the 47th player to be represented by Libero Sports in India, who already work with Indian national team players Robin Singh (Bengaluru FC), Raju Gaikwad (East Bengal), Gurjinder Kumar (Pune FC) and Sandip Nandy (Mohun Bagan), along with foreign players Calum Angus (Pune FC/England), James Meyer (Pune FC/Australia), 2006 World Cup participant Cornell Glen (Shillong Lajong/Trinidad & Tobago), Johnny Menyongar (Bengaluru/Liberia), Katsumi Yusa (Mohun Bagan/Japan), and many others.
On signing-up with Libero Sports, Amiri was quoted as saying, “I am delighted to sign with Libero Sports, who are the best football company in India. The knowledge and experience of Libero Sports will definitely support my on and off the pitch football aspirations.”
Libero Sports Partner and FIFA Licensed Agent Arvind Narayan said after signing Amiri, “Amiri is a top defender and one of the best foreign players in the I-League. He has come on leaps and bounds in the last couple of years and I am sure he is going to improve and go on to have a very successful career in India or abroad.”
