Real Betis 2-4 Atletico Madrid:

Atletico Madrid thrashed Betis, much to the delight of Diego Pablo Simeone, although they had to come back twice in the game. It was Betis who scored first, after a pass by Nacho found 20-year-old winger Agra, who in turn put the Sevillans up 1-0. However, within three minutes, Falcao came up with a goal to equalise, scoring from a Raul Garcia corner. Just before the first half ended, Atletico defender Juanfran had his own moment of shame, as he scored a humiliating own goal to put the home side up 2-1 at the break. In the second half, Falcao went off after scoring from the penalty spot, a goal which drew Atlético level. Diego Costa, who came on for Falcao, needed less than 10 minutes to score, and Raul Garcia came up with another goal in the dying embers of the game. Atletico Madrid have now taken 13 points from a possible 15 and have the league’s top goalscorer Falcao in their ranks, who with his two goals in Seville now totals seven, one more than Messi.

Kaka scores a hat-trick as Real Madrid cruise to victory against Millonarios:

Real Madrid’s tribute to legend Alfredo di Stéfano turned out sour for the visitors Millonarios, as they received a humiliating 8-0 defeat, thus ensuring that the Santiago Bernabéu trophy would remain at home this year. Key players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Pepe and Xabi Alonso were allowed a rest, while frozen out Kaká finally had an opportunity to get some minutes, and showed the Real Madrid manager that he could still be a crucial player for the Madrid-based side this season. He was on the field for an hour and scored three goals, one from a penalty, and when Higuaín went off, wore the captain’s armband for a few minutes. Canteranos Jose Callejon and Alvaro Morata scored a brace each, and Karim Benzema rounded up the score with the eighth goal.

Real Valladolid manager, Miroslav Djukic receives a two-match ban:

Miroslav Djukic was stunned when the match official decided to send him back to the locker room. Apparently, Miroslav was found questioning the referee Muniz Fernandez for a call which might have offended the referee. Later, he blasted the official saying: “In Spain, some people don`t realize Franco is dead and that there is freedom of expression.” Deputy manager Raymond Henric Coll will be taking over the team for the following two home games against Vallecano and Espanyol.

Xavi reveals that Abidal could return in November:

Xavi explained in an interview given to Sport that team-mate Eric Abidal has the ability to overcome his injury woes: “It’s amazing. An example. He is present every day in the gym, morning and evening. I’m not going to say that will be fine by November, but seems like in between November and December. Mascherano is another example of how to train, the way he has adapted to the club, to learn the language is remarkable. He is a leader in the locker room and the field too. Pinto is one as well.”
