Star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic bade farewell to French Ligue 1 with a record-setting performance as Paris Saint-Germain wrapped up the football season with a 4-0 win over Nantes, while Monaco edged Nice in the race for third spot.

The Swede, who announced on Friday he would leave the French champions at the end of next month when his contract expires, on Saturday made Ligue 1 history in the final round. He scored twice here to exceed Carlos Bianchi's club record of 37 goals in a single league season, reports Xinhua.

Ibra, as he is popularly called, opened the scoring at Parc des Princes after just 18 minutes before powering in a header in the 89th minute to earn a standing ovation.

Lucas Moura and Marquinhos each found the net between the 34-year-old's two goals.

Monaco claimed a 2-0 victory over Montpellier to finish at third place and to earn a Champions League qualifying spot, courtesy of Ivan Cavaleiro and a penalty from Fabinho.

Fourth-placed Nice rounded up a superb campaign after Alassane Plea scored twice in a 3-2 win away to Guingamp.

At the other end of the table, Toulouse secured survival with a superb comeback from 1-2 down to a 3-2 win at Angers, thanks to two goals in two minutes from Martin Braithwaite and substitute Yann Bodiger after Wissam Ben Yedder's strike.

Toulouse subsequently finished in the 17th position, with Gazelec Ajaccio heading into Ligue 2 after being beaten 0-1 by Lorient, along with bottom club Troyes, who drew 1-1 with Marseille, and Reims, whose 4-1 thrashing of second-placed Lyon proved to be in vain.

Among the other results from the 38th and final round, Lille won away 1-0 at Saint-Etienne with a penalty to secure a top-five finish.

Caen beat Bordeaux 1-0 to climb into seventh at the expense of Rennes, who lost 2-1 at home to Bastia with courtesy of two goals from Francois Kamano.
