Likely European 2012 winners:
The Germans:
Perhaps a team on par with Spain that can win the Euro 2012 are the Germans. Their quality and dexterity through the middle, coupled with the ruthlessness up front and a stoic back line, make them clear favourites and could give the defending champions food for thought. Their strength lies in Ozil’s nimble feet, Gomez’s powerful head and a safe pair of hands in Manuel Neuer. Arguably, in Joachim Low, they have one of the most successful managers till date in terms of win % and a Euro win would make it even sweeter.
The Red Fury:
An obvious candidate that could dominate and win the Euro’s are, of course the Spaniards. Playing the tiki-taka style and a philosophy synonymous with Barcelona, their game hardly invites their opponents to be adventurous. Though, previous results have proven that “parking the bus” and counter-attacking with blistering pace upfront could unsettle them.It is quite clear Spain are no “Italy, France or Portugal”. Almost every team knows what is expected of them and yet the tide seems unstoppable.
The Portuguese:
The Portguese might have a good chance of winning this time round,as their most prolific, prominent forward, “Postiga”..errr, Ronaldo seems to have hit the peak at the right time during the tournament.Himalayan pressure on his shoulders, Ronaldo seems to be putting in a major shift for his national side. Ingenuity of Fabio Coentrao, Pepe‘s rigidity, Nani‘s dynamism, Postiga’s work rate and Ronaldo’s impeccability in front of goal could give Bento their first ever Euro title.
The Azzurri:
The Italians are well drilled, neat and talented. The old and the young have been combining well and look refreshing. The resourcefulness of the squad could be a key factor in their journey ahead. Complacency could cost them, but coming to a knockout phase, teams do not fancy playing against the Italians, especially one with Mario in it, who can set things on fire at any moment.
