Lineker alleges that Premier League disregarded England team

Gary Lineker has blamed the Premier League for exhibiting a disregard for the best interests of the national team.

The former England captain does not believe that the top-flights fixture will do any good to Roy Hodgson, the England manager.

Liverpool will clash against Manchester United, while Arsenal will go up against Spurs during the weekend (31 August-1 September). Immediately after this, England will have to face Moldova and Ukraine.

As a response to fans spelling out their indifference regarding the national team, the former Tottenham striker took to Twitter: “Never help ourselves!”

“I guess this justifies the Premier League’s disregard for the best interests of England.”

The games also might be played September 1, which is a Sunday, for the sake of live telecast.

But Lineker, 52, said: “Onus now on Sky and BT Sport to do the right thing and leave the games on Saturday. Time to put the nation’s interests before their own.”

In spite of the Premier league match fixtures, the England national squad will have around five days to prepare for the game against Moldova at Wembley on September 6. They will then have to play against Ukraine four days later, on September 10.
