The women’s football edition began in the 1996 Atlanta edition. Canada won the latest edition of the Olympics in Tokyo in 2020 in the women’s football category.
Several countries including big teams like Brazil, Argentina, Spain and France have won the men’s category while underdogs like Cameroon, Mexico and Canada have also won gold in the tournament.
