The I-League holders and the last Indian Team in the competition Bengaluru FC travel to the Mong Kok Stadium in Hong Kong to take on the Kitchee Sports Club. The Round of 16 clash between the two teams will decide who goes through to the semis of the competition.
Ashley Westwood’s boys after an excellent showing in this year’s I-League have witnessed a slump of sorts going out to Aizawl in the Federation Cup. Ashley Westwood who is currently serving a four-match touchline ban will be without midfielder Vineeth and striker Kim Song-Yong. Qualifying second from a tough group which also included the reigning AFC Cup Champions Johor Darul Ta’zim of Malaysia.
The sentiments from the Bengaluru camp are as clear as they can be as resounded by young midfielder Malsawmzuala “We have the chance to end our season in what will be a special high, and we are focussed on giving this game our everything. Big games call for big performances.” The Bengaluru fanbase will be hoping that’s what they see from their team, a big performance.
Mathew Holland who will take Ashley Westwood’s place in the dugout will be wary of the threat provided by Kichee and their star striker Rufino Segovia who has scored 5 goals so far in this season’s competition. The striker has helped his team to 6 wins in the competition so far, and they reached the round of 16 topping their group.
The game is live from Mong Kok Stadium, Hong Kong at 5:30 pm IST.
