Manchester City and Liverpool have shared the last four Premier League titles. The two teams are in the top echelons of the league table this season too.

The rest of the competition has simply not been able to match the levels of these two teams. But this season's title race looks set to go down to the wire. After seven matches, the table is too close to call. Chelsea enter the second international break at the summit of the table.

Liverpool came into the weekend top of the standings, but their draw with Manchester City has seen them drop into second place. Just two points separate the top six sides in the table. On a weekend when all their major rivals dropped points, Chelsea were the big winners following their victory over Southampton.

#2 Mohamed Salah continues to be a difference-maker for Liverpool

Mohamed Salah has scored six Premier League goals this season.

Mohamed Salah is arguably the most in-form player in the game at the moment. He continued his spectacular run with a goal and an assist against Manchester City.

The Egypt international struggled to get going in the first half, like most of his teammates. But he was back to his blistering best after the break. His goal means he has now scored in each of his last seven appearances across competitions for Liverpool. Salah has now scored nine goals from as many matches across competitions this season.

He is also joint-top with Jamie Vardy in the race for the Golden Boot.

With just over a year to go in Salah's current deal with Liverpool, fans have urged the club to leave no stone unturned to extend his future at the club. There is no doubt about the 29-year-old's importance to Jurgen Klopp's team, especially considering his performance against Manchester City.

#1 Kevin De Bruyne getting back to his dominant best for Manchester City

Kevin De Bruyne, a two-time reigning PFA Player of the Year, is one of the best midfielders in the game. On his day, the Belgium international is easily one of the most creative midfielders going around. But injuries have limited his impact in recent weeks.

However, on Sunday against Liverpool, De Bruyne was integral to everything City created in the game. That was especially the case in the first half when no Liverpool player could get near him.

He capped off an imperious performance with a fine goal off his weaker foot. With De Bruyne getting back to his best, the Cityzens would fancy their chances of more success this season.
