Liverpool
Loris Karius: 7/10
The German came off his line well, stopped Kane's first penalty brilliantly and was also confident on the ball. Finally, a performance where we can actually praise a Liverpool goalkeeper for being solid throughout the match.
Trent Alexander-Arnold: 7/10
Another impressive outing for the local lad! Coming in for the injured Joe Gomez, Arnold looked threatening on the ball and delivered some pinpoint crosses. He was aggressive in defence and also picked up a booking for a late lunge on Davies.
Dejan Lovren: 6/10
A Jekyll and Hyde performance from the Croatian. He was brilliant in the first half, winning every aerial duel against Kane, spotting danger and clearing it and also being decent in possession. But his mistake which earned Spurs their first penalty was totally avoidable where he made a complete hash of a regular clearance.
Virgil Van Dijk: 7/10
Van Dijk brings a lot to this Liverpool side. He was commanding in his area in the first half and was also composed when the situation arose. His aerial prowess was commendable but his kick on Lamela where he did make contact with the player proved to be too costly.
Andrew Robertson: 7/10
With every passing performance, the Scot is displaying as to why he has become Liverpool's first choice left back. Robertson was brilliant in defence and kept Tripper quiet for the entire game. He prioritized defence in this game which was the need of the hour for Liverpool. But the left-back still needs to work on his crossing which was erratic against Spurs.
Jordan Henderson: 6/10
A decent return for the captain in a big game after his injury. He picked up second balls and also added numbers in pressing in the centre of the park. But just as Eric Dier, Henderson too looked a bit casual at times and also did not have much time on the ball to dictate the tempo.
James Milner: 8/10
Milner was the most effective of the three Liverpool midfield players. The veteran looked hungry to get on the ball and utilized it well after winning it. He also covered Robertson well on the left flank and it was his substitution which led Liverpool to lose control of midfield in the second half.
Emre Can: 7/10
Can carried his good form into this game and was tenacious in winning the ball back in the first half. He outplayed Dembele on numerous occasions and was dominating the midfield in the first interval. Can looked tired as the game went on and after a switch to a holding role, failed to stop the influx of attacks from the opposition.
Sadio Mane: 5/10
Mane's indifferent new year form continued against Tottenham. His pace was as usual a threat along with his movement, but his decision making, final balls and touches were simply below par.
Mohamed Salah: 9/10
Liverpool needed their top player to perform on the night and he did exactly that. The first goal was a gift for him but the second was sheer brilliance. It was all Salah for the second with a mazy dribble and a superb finish which was purely Messiesque.
The Egyptian nearly dragged Liverpool to victory single-handedly. He also becomes the fastest Liverpool player to reach 20 Premier League goals.
Roberto Firmino: 6/10
Firmino failed to get the desired service with his best work coming in closing down the opponents and feeding his teammates. It was another selfless performance but more was expected of him in the big game.
Substitutions
Georginio Wijnaldum: 5/10
He was brought on to inject some life in Liverpool's midfield but failed to make an impact. He went anonymous for the majority of his cameo.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain: 4/10
It was not a good outing for the Ox. Replacing Mane and playing on the flanks, Chamberlain was frustrating in possession and lost the ball on numerous occasions. He also should have reacted earlier in the build-up to the first Tottenham goal.
Joel Matip: 5/10
With Matip's arrival, Liverpool shifted to a back three. But the centre-back could not stop Spurs from leaving Anfield with a point.
