#2 Ernesto Valverde got his tactics wrong
What a day to get your tactics wrong, isn't it? Valverde got everything wrong on the day, starting with the team selection. Why was Phillipe Coutinho started is the biggest question every Barcelona fan would be asking.
In the first leg, we clearly saw how beneficial it is to start both Nelson Semedo and Sergi Roberto together as they kept Sadio Mane quite, but Valverde decided to start with Roberto alone and Mane made the Spanish full-back run all night.
Another huge tactical error that Valverde made was playing out from the back. When Liverpool were pressing Barcelona high, the away side were still trying to play out from the back and two of Liverpool's three goals came from the errors made by Barcelona doing just that.
The Blaugrana should have cleared their lines more often as Liverpool was the team chasing but they didn't and that cost them dearly.
