Shrewsbury Town gave Liverpool a scare in the the first half. The visitors opened the scoring in the 27th minute of the game, courtesy Daniel Udoh's strike. The Nigerian slotted past Caoimhin Kelleher from close range following some brilliant work down the flank by Nathaneal Ogbeta.

Ryan Bowman thought he restored Shrewsbury's lead after Gordon's equaliser, but his effort was ruled out for offside. Shrewsbury had three shots on target in the first half to Liverpool's two.

#2 Kaide Gordon shines in front of the Kop

Kaide Gordon equalised for the hosts in the 34th minute. The 17-year-old coolly slotted past Marko Marosi after some tidy footwork in the box. The way Gordon skimmed the ball past Shrewsbury defenders was praiseworthy.

In the process, Gordon became the second youngest scorer for the Reds. His performance earned him high praise from Klopp.

Fabinho scored a brace to secure victory for the Reds. The Brazilian scored his first of the game on the cusp of half-time from the spot. He scored his second of the game in stoppage time, pouncing on a rebound to smash it into the back of the net.

It was an all-round performance from the Brazilian. Playing alongside youngsters, he was the main man in the centre, and he played his role well. Fabinho produced three accurate long balls, won five out of six duels, produced one key pass, and also made one interception

His presence allowed his teammates to move higher up the pitch and express themselves.
