Liverpool and Arsenal are embroiled in a race for Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa, according to the Express.

The Mexican international number one is highly-sought after and after his eye-catching performances for the national side at this summers World Cup, a number of Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on him. That includes Liverpool and Arsenal, who are both keen on bolstering their goalkeeping department.

The 28-year-old shot-stopper is a free agent after his contract with French outfit Ajaccio expired and is set to sign for a new club this summer. Ochoa has been tipped to make a move to the Premier League, however, with Monaco also keeping tabs Ochoa admits he would prefer to stay in Ligue 1.

Ochoa put in a brilliant performance for Mexico in their draw with Brazil, denying the hosts a second win, and with a number of clubs chasing his signature, he will have to decide soon what to do.

He told reporters: “My priority is to stay in France, but I am open to any propositions.

“I have improved in the last three years, most notably in handling the pace of games.

“But I was used to top competition when I played in Mexico. I now need to play in the Champions League to be sure of my level.”
