Liverpool have confirmed their second signing of the summer after Bayern Leverkusen’s Emre Can completed a £9.75million move to the Merseyside.
After holding discussions for several weeks, the 20-year-old midfielder’s buy out clause was activated yesterday by the Anfield representatives.
Emre, who is one of the stars of Germany’s U-21 team, joined Leverkusen last summer after spending 4 years with Bayern Munich.
The Bavarians had the option to buy him back. But they opted to let him stay at Leverkusen for another season which gave Liverpool the oppurtunity to land him in England.
With the confirmation of this deal, Liverpool have acquired two players for the next season. Earlier, Rickie Lambert of Southampton struck a £4million deal with the Reds to become their first signing of the summer.
