Sebastian Coates has unsure as to whether he will be returning to Liverpool ahead of next season, claiming his situation at Anfield is ‘complicated’.
Coates suffered a knee injury in August that kept him out for half a year, before he made a loan switch to Uruguayan side Nacional to aid his recovery and put him in the best possible position to earn his place in Uruguay’s World Cup squad this summer.
Brendan Rodgers has already signalled that he intends to sign more defensive reinforcements this summer with Daniel Agger out of favour with the Liverpool manager and Coates has revealed that he needs to have a discussion over his future and see if he is still wanted on Merseyside.
Coates told reporters, “I have been in contact with them (Liverpool). The situation is complicated, but I want the best for Luis (Suarez) and for the team.
“You have to ask the manager (whether Coates is ready for the Premier League).
“Some players may not succeed in one place, then do well in another one. We have to wait for the right moment and make the most of them.
“First, I hope to be in Brazil. The manager (Oscar Tabarez) has talked to everyone that has been involved, so while the list has not been announced, I have faith.”
