What’s the story?
The defenders and goalkeepers have been letting Liverpool down and Jurgen Klopp knows that very well. The manager is not willing to let the January transfer window pass by without signing upgrades.
With Kevin Trapp not getting enough game time at PSG, he's looking to leave the Ligue 1 side in January. Now, Metro (via Le 10 Sport), have linked him with a move to Liverpool.
The goalkeeper's agent himself confirmed that the Trapp will be leaving the French side in January if an opportunity pops up. Jorg Neubauer said, "If there is a chance in the winter, Kevin wants to leave Paris."
The German goalkeeper also confirmed his interest in joining Liverpool and he was quoted saying, “It's an amazing club with a great tradition. And of course, I'm a fan of the Premier League. The Reds are not without interest, they have already won many titles, and Jurgen Klopp is, of course, a very good coach.”
In case you didn’t know…
Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius have not been able to step up and perform when required and have come under a lot of criticism. The goalkeepers have made way too many errors that have lead to Liverpool dropping points and losing games.
Trapp was PSG's #1 choice last season but has been replaced by Alphonse Areola. The French shot-stopper has been in brilliant form and has given Unai Emery no opportunity to drop him.
The heart of the matter
Liverpool and Trapp fill each other's needs perfectly right now and are set to join hands. The club needs a new goalkeeper and the player needs a place where he can play as the #1 regularly.
PSG are ready to sell him as well as they need to raise money to avoid FFP punishment.

Author’s Take
Trapp will be a brilliant signing for Liverpool but if they do not spend on a defender or two, there will be no Champions League football at Anfield next season.
