Liverpool are looking at bringing in the USA’s DeAndre Yedlin for a trial over the summer ahead of a potential transfer after impressing at the World Cup, according to the Metro.

Yedlin, 20, is rated as one of the most highly-rated footballers in America and impressed considerably at the World Cup playing at right-back. It is clear that Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is looking for quality in the full-back positions after being linked with a number of players in the position.

With Glen Johnson having just one year remaining on his current deal with Liverpool and in terribly inconsistent form, on high wages and a poor injury record, it would be no surprise to see Rodgers look elsewhere, especially considering Yedlin’s performances in Brazil.

In the USA’s final match of the tournament, against Belgium in the last-16, he put in a fantastic performance on the right-hand side and will have attracted interest from several clubs.

It is thought that Rodgers will bring Yedlin in and test him over their summer pre-season tour of America before deciding on whether he wants to take him to Anfield permanently.

Yedlin is able to play on both flanks as a full-back and as a winger, showing real versatility.
