Lucas Leiva has been in the Liverpool squad for quite some time now, but recurring injuries have forced him to stay away from playing at his full potential.
The Brazilian international, who joined Liverpool in 2007, has been working hard to recover his health and going by the pre-season matches, he has been good to say the least.
Lucas is confident of doing better this season and hopes to contribute more in the club’s campaign to challenge the top teams in the EPL as well to make their way back in the Champions League.
“It’s clear to me that I’m in better shape than last season. I put all my injuries behind me and I haven’t missed any game or any training session during this pre-season,” Lucas told LFC TV.
Liverpool will play their final friendlies against the champions of the Scottish Premier League Celtic in Dublin on Saturday. They will begin their EPL season against Stoke City at home on August 17.
