The Portuguese press are reporting that Liverpool midfielder Suso has emerged as a transfer target for Porto, writes the Liverpool ECHO.
Newspaper O Jogo reports that Porto boss Julen Lopetegui has been tracking the Reds youngster during his loan spell at Almeria and would welcome his arrival at the Estádio do Dragão.
The Reds appear to view the Spaniard as an expendable component of their squad, following reports that Suso was included in Liverpool’s cash-plus-play offer for Sevilla left-back Alberto Moreno.
The Cadiz native broke into Liverpool’s senior squad at the tender age of 18 in a Europa League tie against Young Boys and was further rewarded with eight starts in the Premier League that year.
However, in light of Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho’s arrival at Anfield in January 2013, Suso fell down the pecking order in Brendan Rodgers’ estimation and subsequently teamed up with La Liga outfit Almeria on loan to acquire some much needed regular first-team experience.
He turned out on 33 occasions for the Rojiblancos last term, contributing three goals and seven assists to the cause as Almeria finished the season one place shy of the relegation spots.
