Brendan Rodgers will face his old club this weekend with his Liverpool side looking to pick up a win and continue their bid for fourth place and perhaps even put themselves back into the title race. The Reds are in good form, losing only one of their last eight league matches including five wins, one a 5-1 victory over Arsenal.
When they played Swansea earlier in the season at the Liberty Stadium Liverpool only managed to draw, Swansea could well be tired after the Europa League clash with Napoli so Rodgers will fancy his team’s chances.
Liverpool will be without Jose Enrique, Lucas Leiva and Mamadou Sakho through injury but Glen Johnson could be available.
Simon Mignolet
Brad Jones may have done okay against Arsenal in the FA Cup defeat but when it comes to the bread and butter of the Premier League there only option is the ever present Mignolet.
In 26 games he has kept seven clean sheets making 1.97 games per goal and being successful in 97% of claims and has been named Squawka Goalkeeper of the Week 16 times.
Glen Johnson
Should he be fit the England international should step in to the back line in place of youngster John Flanagan.
He has missed the last four matches through injury but this season he has been solid in defence winning 63% of the 51 tackles contested and has made 27 interceptions. In attack he has made 18 key passes and overall has an 82% success rate in passing.
Martin Skrtel
Two goals against Arsenal in the league encounter set his side on the way to a demolition of Arsene Wenger’s men but scoring goals is not his forte.
Winning duels is. Skrtel has come out on top in 80 of the 119 headed duels he has challenged for while he has also won 51% of tackles and has made 43 interceptions. Wilfred Bony has 14 goals in all competitions and will be no means be the easiest test for the Liverpool centre back.
Daniel Agger
If Sakho was fit and Kolo Toure was not a bit of a liability then Agger may not be in consideration but he is and that is not a bad thing.
He has only appeared 12 times in the Premier League but has won 54% of tackles and 73% of headed duels. His pass completion is excellent at 86%. In his favour he has a lot of experience playing with Skrtel.
Aly Cissokho
With Enrique injured and other players needed elsewhere Cissokho is the best of a bad bunch, but is by no means terrible.
He has won just 46% of the 41 tackles contested and has only made eight key passes. Nathan Dyer could really cause him some trouble down the Swansea City right hand side.
Captain Fantastic is being exactly that again this season with a number of excellent performances helping him earn a Squawka Performance Score of 866.
He has seven Premier League goals and nine assists this season with 62% of shots on target and 85% of passes have found a team-mate.
He certainly has the ability to come out on top in the midfield battle with Jose Canas and Leon Britton.
Jordan Henderson
Partnering Gerrard in midfield should be the in form and resurgent Henderson whose form this season has seen him talked about as a potential England player for the World Cup.
He is just one of two ever present players in the Premier League for Liverpool this season and that is for a reason. 87% of passes completed have seen 48 key passes made and six assists.
Raheem Sterling
Sterling is hitting some great form and like Henderson being spoken about as a potential squad member for Brazil 2014 with Roy Hodgson’s side.
He is excellent at beating his man winning 55 of 92 take ons. Attempting 92 in 21 matches, over four per match, shows he is not afraid to try his luck, and he will do the same against Ben Davies, the Swansea left back.
He also has five goals playing off the wing, the fourth best at the club.
Philippe Coutinho
The Brazilian sometimes gets overlooked with the amazing attackers playing around him and he certainly is the least impressive of the Liverpool attacking quartet but that is not to say he is poor.
He has three goals, four assists and a 79% pass completion this season.
Daniel Sturridge
Sturridge has netted 16 goals in 18 games and has been described by Rodgers as a nine and a half, a player falling between a traditional number nine and number 10.
Frpm his 57 shots this season, 54% have hit the target. He has also chipped in with four assists.
Suarez’s Squawka Performance Score of 1252 firmly places him among Europe’s elite this season. This is even more impressive given he missed the first five matches of the season through suspension.
With 23 goals in 21 games he averages over one goal per game with 57% of his 97 shots hitting the target showing he is extremely lethal and efficient in front of goal. He also contributes to the team with eight assists in the Premier League. Ashley Williams and Chico will not look forward to this one.
