Arsenal have had a fresh bid for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez rejected by the Merseyside club. The new improved bid was said to be worth £40,000,001.
This is the third bid from Arsenal for Suarez that has been rejected by the 5-time European Champions.
Liverpool are reported to be willing to sell the Uruguayan forward only for an amount exceeding £55m, having seen Paris Saint-Germain sign Suarez’s countryman Edinson Cavani for the same amount last week.
Suarez’s contract contains a strange clause that allows the player to be informed of any bid for him that is worth over £40m. This could allow Suarez to hand in a transfer request, which could force Liverpool’s hand.
If the North London club were to sign Suarez this summer, it would seem that they will have to triple their previous club-record fee of £15m, which they paid for Andrey Arshavin in 2009.
