Liverpool are set to make a £20 million offer for France international forward Antoine Griezmann as he edges closer to the Real Sociedad exit door, according to the Metro.
Griezmann, 23, was one of the standout performers in La Liga last season as he scored 16 goals from a wide forward position for La Real. It was another impressive season for the Frenchman who hit the headlines with some superb performances in 2012/13 as he helped Real Sociedad qualify for the Champions League.
The France international, who represented his country at the recent World Cup, has been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal in the last few months and the Gunners allegedly had bids rejected last summer. However, it seems his days at the club may soon be over and the Reds are ready to pounce.
Liverpool were targeting Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez originally as they are preparing to lose superstar striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona, but the Chilean striker has decided to join Arsenal and should confirm his move next week.
This has prompted Liverpool to look at Griezmann as an alternative to the forward. The La Liga side had offered him a new two-year extension but he looks almost certain to be sold this summer after snubbing the terms.
