Liverpool FC have confirmed the signing of Brazilian international Roberto Firmino Barbosa de Oliveira from Bundesliga side TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
The 23-year-old attacking midfielder will join the Premiership outfit on a long-term contract, subject to a medical which will take place immediately following the player's participation in the ongoing Copa America 2015.
Roberto Firmino kicked-off his professional career with Brazil's Figueirense FC in 2009, before joining Hoffenheim in 2011 to spend four-and-a-half seasons with the German club. He made 151 appearances in league and cup for the Germans, netting 47 goals.
The impressive performances earned him a debut call-up to the Seleção in October 2014 and he made his debut appearance in a friendly match against Turkey on November 12, 2014. Firmino scored his first international goal just six days later in a friendly match, when he scored the winner for Brazil in their 2-1 against Austria.
I would like to wish Roberto all the best for his new journey! I hope he will continue to impress the fans in the EPL and he will remain the friendly and down to earth person I got to know during our India Tour with TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in May 2014. Boa sorte, Roberto!
