Jurgen Klopp gives an update on Emre Can contract situation
The 24-year old's contract is set to expire in the summer and he is yet to extend it so far. The German has become a key player under Jurgen Klopp in the past couple of seasons with his grit, skill and energy standing out.
However, there are flaws that need ironing out, but Liverpool are better off keeping the midfielder as it would cost quite a bit to sign a similar player in the current market. Now, Klopp was asked to shed some light on the contract situation in his pre-match press conference, as the Reds gear up to face Crystal Palace in the Premier League. The gaffer said, as per the club's official website:
"Where the situation is at, at the moment: open. That's what we [have] said before, nothing is decided, it's open. We are in talks with him and it’s all good so far, apart from him signing a contract for us, that's all. No problem with that."
Thus, talks are still ongoing with the former Bayern Munich man and the Reds fans will be hopeful of keeping the player before the season ends.
Jorginho drops huge transfer hint
The Napoli midfielder has become pivotal in the Italian side's hunt to win the Scudetto for the first time since 1990. The Brazil-born Italy international is an unconventional no.6 with a superb reading of the game and excellent passing ability. Thus, he could prove to be a good fit for quite a few of the top English sides - who will certainly benefit from his addition.
Now, the 26-year old himself addressed the rumours of a possible summer move to England, as per reports from The Independent and hinted at his preferences by saying:
"I think that I could fit (in the Premier League). It depends on who else is around me. I need players with the same characteristics that I have."
"There are English teams with this style of play, ball on the ground, quick transitions, high pressure. If one of those teams wanted me, I could fit and the other way round. My football way is not an usual one."
Thus, Liverpool could prove to be a superb fit for the midfielder, but a lot could hinge on whether Emre Can stays or leaves in the summer. In case the German leaves, then the Reds could go all out to land Jorginho.
AS Roma president explains Mohamed Salah sale
The Egyptian has taken the Premier League by storm since joining Liverpool in the summer. The Reds' no.11 has scored 28 goals in the league and is closing in on several club records, as well as league records.
These exploits make his transfer fee of around £36 million looks to be a steal in hindsight. Now, AS Roma's director of football, Monchi spoke about the reasoning behind the sale and said, as per reports from The Daily Star:
"On Salah there are two important things to understand. First, Salah was sold before the Neymar effect revolutionised the market. Second, we had a necessity to sell Salah before June 30."
"Anyone who understands a bit of this business knows that that's like having a sword pointed at your neck. So taking into account these two conditions, I think we made a sale that was fairly big."
"True, he then became an incredible player and with the Neymar effect and Mbappe, Dembele, Coutinho, he surely demands a higher price now. But these two things are important to understand. Otherwise, it seems that Monchi is a bit blind."
Thus, it is a valid point that Salah's transfer fee was good money before Neymar shattered the transfer situation. Either way, one thing is for sure - Liverpool are set to profit from the Egyptian's exploits for a long time to come.
