Craig Bellamy’s potential transfer to Liverpool took a positive turn after the Welsh FA allowed him to leave the training camp to undergo a medical at Anfield. It was revealed last week in a shocker that Kenny Dalglish was looking to bring bad boy Bellamy back to Liverpool, where he spent one forgettable season under Rafael Benitez. Currently on Manchester City‘s payroll after having spent a season long loan at Championship club Cardiff City, Bellamy has been announced as not being part of his plans by manager Roberto Mancini and was told to look for a new club.
Along with Emmanuel Adebayor, Bellamy is currently one of the many deadweights at Manchester City, earning a big salary but no longer a part of the manager’s plans. With the Adebayor to Tottenham loan deal done, City look to offload their next big name. At one point, it was revealed that City were going to play hardball over the transfer and not let go of their big name deadweights if the proper money did not arrive. However, with options running out and Liverpool’s interest in Bellamy, the deal is expected to go with Manchester City willing to let go of the striker on a free transfer, despite Bellamy having two years left on his contract which pays him £95,000-a-week.
If the deal goes through, 32 year old Bellamy will become the 7th signing in what has been a fruitful summer for Liverpool in the transfer window as Dalglish looks to strengthen his side even further. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
