Liverpool transfer news: Egyptian legend advises Salah, Van Dijk opens up about transfer and more - 10th April 2018

Former Egypt coach gives his two cents on Salah's future

Legendary Egypt manager advises Mohamed Salah about future

The 25-year-old has been in sensational form this season with his 37 goals taking everyone by pleasant surprise. Naturally, he is the subject of discussion everywhere as to where will he go next as Liverpool are currently not considered to be on the same level as Real Madrid or Barcelona.

Now, former Egypt coach, Hassan Shehata, who won three back-to-back African Cup of Nations with the Pharaohs, gave his advice to the wide forward and said:

"It's an honour to us when we talk about Salah. He did a great job this year with Liverpool - can either leave for Barcelona or Real Madrid, or stay with Liverpool. It's up to him, but I think he should play for the team who will always let him play.

"Salah is the biggest star with Liverpool, but with Real, he will be under the shadow of Cristiano Ronaldo - that's what made Neymar leave Barcelona because he wanted to be out of Lionel Messi's shadow. Salah should think very well before he leaves and get advice from trustworthy professional people, then he will take the best decision for himself."

Thus, Salah is definitely bringing a lot of pride to his countrymen and it remains to be seen which direction he will choose to take this summer, with Europe's elite clubs outside England all monitoring his progress.

Liverpool look to have missed out on Ryan Sessegnon

Fulham v Leeds United - Sky Bet Championship
Big move incoming?

The 17-year-old is arguably the best upcoming talent in England with his performances for Championship side Fulham well-noted everywhere. The left-winger, who originally started as a left-back in the senior squad last season, is on a similar career trajectory to that of Gareth Bale from his days at Southampton and is expected to make a big move in the near future.

Now, Bristol Post columnist Leroy Rosenior spoke about a deal already being done and said:

"I think that a deal has been done for Ryan as teams have been in for him. It's a Premier League side with strong rumours of Tottenham. I wouldn't be surprised if other sides have been in for him as well - he's staying at Fulham before moving in the summer. His future is already mapped out."

While Spurs are, naturally, yet to make any official statement, it seems very likely that Sessegnon will agree to a move in his quest for progression. Despite Jurgen Klopp having Andy Robertson and Alberto Moreno currently at left-back, the Fulham star is a special talent and could very well suit the German's playing style - so it's imperative they do more to try and convince him otherwise.

Virgil van Dijk opens up about Liverpool move

Southampton v Liverpool - Premier League
Virgil van Dijk speaks about his January move to Anfield

The Dutchman joined the Reds in January after a long transfer saga and has become the catalyst for the marked defensive improvement in the side. Now, on the eve of the crunch Champions League quarter-final second leg against Manchester City, the 26-year-old spoke about his transfer and said:

"I knew that from day one it was the right decision to come here. I wanted to come to Liverpool, wanted to make the next step here and want to win trophies like everyone in our team. I'm enjoying every minute of it, I don't know which othere decisions I could have made. Do you know?"

"Southampton, Liverpool and me came to an agreement which was right for me and my family. If you look around, Liverpool is the perfect fit. That is how I feel and I hope it will be like that for years to come."

These latest quotes will come as music to supporters' ears as they finally look to have found a defensive leader in the mould of Jamie Carragher - who retired five years ago. It also reinforces the pull that Klopp has on players, as van Dijk chose the Reds ahead of teams including Chelsea and Manchester City.
