Reds legend sure of Mohamed Salah stay
The Egyptian has been in scintillating form this season having scored 29 goals so far in the Premier League. The 25-year-old has been breaking club and league records for fun. Naturally, links have started to emerge as he is well on his way to winning the European Golden Shoe as well.
Now, Reds legend, Phil Thompson, has come out and expressed confidence that Salah will be a Liverpool player come next season. He told Sky Sports:
"I've got absolutely no worries whatsoever that he won't be at Liverpool next season. Other people will be looking to see whether it is a one-off situation."
"Every time we get a player who hits the big heights everybody makes out that the likes of Real Madrid and PSG are looking at our players. However, he's felt that rejection from Chelsea so I'd imagine he's probably appreciating the adulation at Anfield and how the club is helping to make him a better player."
Thompson does make a valid point regarding the links and the player has not expressed any interest in leaving Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool project. The legend's statement can definitely be expected to boost hope among the fans regarding Salah's stay.
Inter Milan confirm Stefan de Vrij deal yet to be agreed
The Dutchman is in the final year of his contract and has stated his desire to leave Serie A side Lazio in the summer. The 26-year-old has turned into one of the top defenders in Italy and could prove to be a top addition for Europe's elite clubs.
Inter Milan were expected to already have a deal in place with the likes of Liverpool interested but the Nerazzurri sporting director, Piero Ausilio, refused to confirm any agreement with the defender. He said:
“I cannot confirm anything. Inter’s transfer window opens on May 20. First we will talk with our players and evaluate the players we have here.”
While Ausilio remains non-committal, this is a huge boost for Liverpool. The Reds have been linked with De Vrij in the past. He is a top centre-back and a viable option to partner Virgil van Dijk with both Dejan Lovren and Joel Matip yet to prove themselves adequately.
This leaves the veteran Ragnar Klavan and the young Joe Gomez as the only other centre-back options. Thus, this could prove to be a good time to agree on a pre-contract with De Vrij and make a quality addition on the cheap for Liverpool.
Ramadan Sobhi discusses future as Liverpool are linked
The 21-year-old has slowly made inroads into a relegation-threatened Stoke side and has been expectedly linked to Liverpool, where his countryman Salah plays. The Reds no.11 has recommended Sobhi to Klopp and the club scouts have monitored the attacker even before his move to Stoke from Egyptian side Al Ahly.
Now, Sobhi himself has spoken about his future and expressed his desire to leave Stoke in the summer. He said:
“I hope to be able to perform well for Stoke, so I can be with Egypt at the World Cup. I hope we do well at the World Cup – and then I can start thinking about leaving the club.”
Thus, the player remains grounded as he hopes to play for Egypt in the World Cup while being confident of his abilities to make a move this summer. It remains to be seen whether he has the quality to play for Liverpool but there is no doubt that he could be a decent squad addition and could improve the club's chances of keeping Salah.
