#3 John Barnes
Born as John Charles Bryan Barnes in Kingston, he moved to London along with his family when he was 12. After playing for Stowe Boys’ Club and Sudbury Court, he was noticed by second division side Watford. It was at Watford that he caught the eye with great performances and it was not long before he was snapped up in a £900,000 deal to join Kenny Dalglish's Liverpool.
An Englishman with a touch of Brazilian magic in him, Barnes left defences flat-footed thanks to his supreme dribbling skills and close control. A player who was capable of winning a match almost single-handedly, Barnes was easily one of the most skilled and talented players in Liverpool’s history.
