Sevilla sporting director Monchi has revealed that while Liverpool‘s initial offer for Luis Alberto is not bad, it is still not good enough to be accepted.
“If there has been interest from Liverpool, we are not going to deny that,” Monchi said. “The numbers suggest that he is leaving. The player has received an important offer, but at the moment he is a Sevilla player. The first offer the club has is very good, but we are not satisfied yet.”
The attacker, who had an illustrious last season having claimed 11 goals and 17 assists while on loan at Barcelona B during Spain’s Segunda Division last term, is rumoured to have invited an €8 million bid from Liverpool.
During an interview conducted with in-house TV station, Monchi, whose real name is Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo , openly admitted that he is expecting Liverpool to return with a more attractive offer.
He was willing to divulge information regarding another potential transfer involving last season’s top scorer Alvaro Negredo, who had previously hinted that he would favor a move to Atletico Madrid.
“If there is not an important offer we are not going to sell Negredo,” he said. “But we must not forget the player is also involved in this. But the numbers which are coming out, €15m, €17m or €18m are not enough.”
Monchi also added that Santiago Luna, the left back, is looking to close a permanent deal with Aston Villa.
The club is also hoping that Geoffrey Kondogbia will opt to stay on inspite of his complicated ownership situation involving the Doyen Group and interests from clubs such as Real Madrid, Arsenal and Juventus.
