According to Sky Italia, Liverpool have given the green light to loan goalkeeper Pepe Reina to Napoli for the upcoming season.
A move to Italy will reunite the Spaniard with his former manager at Anfield, Rafael Benitez, and will also give him the chance to compete in the Champions League after Napoli finished second in the Serie A.
The arrival of Simon Mignolet’s from Sunderland has left the door open for Reina to move to Italy.
Reina’s agent Manuel Garcia Quilon was quoted by Tutto Mercato as saying: “At this time, Napoli is only a possibility. There is interest from both parties, for the boy it would be a welcome destination.
“Napoli is now a great team that is continuing to grow, plays in the Champions League and has a coach to count on with Rafael Benitez.”
Coincidentally, it was Benitez who signed Reina for Liverpool from Spanish side Villarreal in 2005.
