Juventus club officials have confirmed the signing of Spanish striker Fernando Llorente, who will join Juventus on 1 July. Llorente has agreed to a four-year deal with the club and will move to Turin once his contract with Athletic Bilbao expires.
Fernando was born on 26 February, 1985, in Pamplona. He made his professional career debut for Athletic Bilbao, making his way through the ranks and becoming a very integral part of the club’s as well as his national side’s attack. He made his debut for the first team in 2005.
Nicknamed El Rey León (The Lion King), Llorente scored an impressive 29 goals for the club in all competitions in the 2011–12 season, helping Los Leones to the Copa Del Rey and Europa League finals. He has been described as a Bilbao legend for his superb performances for the club.
The combination of brilliant ball control and a superior aerial presence has made him a sensation in Spain. He was part of the squads that won the FIFA World Cup in 2010, and the Euros, in 2012.
