Former Manchester United striker Louis Saha has compared Anthony Martial’s ability to that of Arsenal great Thierry Henry. Saha thinks Martial is at the same level Henry was at this age and will only continue to get better.
The 37-year old thinks Manchester United are the right club for his development and he has all the resources to grow at Old Trafford. “He has definitely got the quality and the platform for working really hard at Manchester United.”
Saha also said that playing for a big club like Manchester United makes it easier for the national side to accept you as a youngster. “When you get that, you get the experience under your belt of being at a big club and you get respected easier with France.”
Martial has been compared to the former Premier League great several times this season because of the similar qualities both players possess. And the Frenchman feels the that the forward is as good as Henry was ”When you see him, he has as much quality as Thierry Henry at this age.”
But something that Saha feels the Gunners legend was better at than his heir was decision making. “Thierry was a really decisive player and that is where Martial needs to work; he needs to be more precise and give more indication to his game.”
Saha very impressed with Martial
Saha has been very impressed with how the youngster seems to play with so much ease. “Everything seems to be easy for him: being on the ball, being strong, holding the ball at the right moments, getting important goals and being able to play week in and week out.”
Martial has played in almost every single game for Manchester United this season. Many youngsters suffer from burnout playing several matches in the Premier League but the striker has adapted well. “He hasn’t played this many games during his career so he has done really well to adapt his physique.”
Saha is also extremely happy with the Frenchman’s progress and his openness to advice from other players. “What I really like about him is that he is willing to improve. He is listening and trying to get things going.”
France beat Netherlands in thriller
Anthony Martial played the second half of the match coming on for Antoine Griezmann as France beat Netherlands 3-2 in an exciting encounter. In the 14th minute of the game, the referee stopped the match as the players and the spectators applauded for a minute in tribute to the late Johan Cruyff.
Griezmann and Olivier Giroud put the away side 2-0 up within 13 minutes of the match. But the Netherlands made a second half comeback to draw the game level. Unfortunately for the home side they conceded immediately after they scored the equalizer as Blaise Matuidi won the game in the 87th minute.
