Barcelona forward Luis Suarez’s availability for Sunday's Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao remains a concern for the Catalan club as he is trying to fight his way back for the final two games of the season. Suarez has not played a game for Barcelona since he was substituted at half-time against Bayern Munich in the Allianz Arena. He subsequently missed the last two game of the league campaign.
Suarez has been in exceptional form of the newly-crowned Spanish Champions since his move from Liverpool, scoring 24 goals in just 41 appearances for the club.
According to the Barcelona website, Suarez and defender, Jeremy Mathieu, did not train with the first team squad. The statement read, “After a rest day on Sunday, the FC Barcelona squad returned to work on Monday morning with Saturday's cup final on their minds.”
"The Tito Vilanova field at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper was the venue and the full team was present, although Luis Suarez and Jeremy Mathieu did separate exercises to the rest of the group.”
Enrique called up five youngsters from the B team
According to the fitness bulletin, “Luis Enrique also called on the services of five players from Barca B, namely Munir el Haddadi, David Babunski, Edgar Ie, Joan Campins and Javier Fernandez 'Bicho.”
Enrique might end up resting Suarez in the final keeping in mind he has to play the Champions League final against Juventus in Berlin as well.
