Jamie Carragher believes that Luis Suarez can still stay at Liverpool despite the Uruguayan expressing his desire to leave Anfield this summer.
The 26-year-old striker made a number of announcements in the past months suggesting that a move out from England would suit him and even held the British media responsible for his decision.
Suarez has been heavily linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid, but no talks have taken place between the two clubs.
Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher told ITV: “I think he might stay. Some big clubs will be interested in him because he is such a top player and that is something we have to accept.
“We can’t complain about that, we bought him off Ajax.
“He signed a contract last summer and he has a few years left and hopefully we can keep him.
“He is very important. He was probably the best player in the Premier League last season and you want to be keeping your best players, which is what he is.”
