Luka Modric is cheering on Tottenham Hotspur from Spain, as the Croatian claims he still watches Spurs on TV as they vie for the Premier League title this season. The 30 year old left England for Spain in 2012, and has worked under four managers in Real Madrid, but counts Carlo Ancelotti as the best he has worked with.
In an interview with the BBC, Modric revealed his continuing love affair with is former side, saying “I follow them a lot. Almost whenever I can, I watch them playing. They're playing really well, amazing, they have a good coach and they are very close to winning the league.”
“And I wish them all the best and cross fingers for them to win it because I think they are capable of [doing it] because they are playing really good football.”
The Croatian did not win any trophy while at Spurs and when it was put to him, that he might perhaps consider a return to complete unfinished business, he replied “No, I don't look that way. I had four great years in Tottenham and I enjoyed my time there. I had support from everyone - from the fans, especially - and I will be always grateful for all [the] love that they showed me during these years.”
Ancelotti was the best

They all helped me improve but if I had to pick the best I would pick Ancelotti.”

I can learn a lot from him. So far he’s doing really well. I’m sure he will have a great career as a manager.
“He knows exactly what he wants. He doesn’t speak a lot. He tells us exactly what he expects from us. So far, everyone is very happy with his approach. His training sessions are very interesting, very intensive. What we need is hopefully results that follow, he can bring titles to Madrid.”
Modric reaffirmed his commitment to Real Madrid, saying “From day one I was in love with this club and with this city. I enjoy every moment here. I still have two and a half more years on my contract and I will try to be here as long as possible.”
