German forward Lukas Podolski dedicated the 4-0 win against Portugal to Michael Schumacher, the legendary German F1 driver. Yesterday, Schumacher awoke from his six-month coma caused by a ski incident, after which he was transported to a hospital in Laussaune.
"Schumacher is a good friend of mine and it is important to all of us to hear the news that he’s come out of hospital.”
“He’s doing well and he’s getting better and it’s really good news," said Podolski.
"Of course it helped us. When you hear the news about a good friend it always helps and you get a little bit of a boost and I was very happy when I heard about the news. The DFB (German FA), the team and I continue to wish his family strength.
“We hope he will be back on his feet soon and eventually he will be able to see one of our matches”
The Arsenal forward also wore special shoes to signify Schumacher’s recovery in the FA Cup Final. These were a custom pair of Adizero 50 boots with the message “Keep fighting, Michael”.
